Are you continuing on Ruta 40 or are you going to Puerto Montt to start the Careterra Austral?
If you continue on the 40, you can jump over to the Atlantic Coast – Peninsula Valdez. I think, apart from the sea lions, sea elephants, killer whales and the terrestrial wildlife, you can still see the whales. The months they are at PV are mentioned in the Lonely Planet (most probably you know this).
